Street star Kym Marsh's baby dies

The baby son of Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh and Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas has died after being born 18 weeks early.

Marsh, 32, who plays barmaid Michelle Connor in the ITV1 soap, gave birth to Archie Jay Lomas on Wednesday, but he died moments later.

In a statement, Marsh said: "Archie is our beautiful angel and we will miss him so much."

The former Hear'Say singer had been due to take maternity leave in the summer.

Her character was last seen on screen several weeks ago, after she found out about her on-screen partner Steve McDonald's affair. Michelle left him and moved to Ireland to be nearer her parents.

Marsh, who has has two children David, 13, and Emily, 10, from a previous relationship, announced the end of her marriage to former EastEnders actor Jack Ryder last March.

She confirmed her new relationship with Lomas, who plays Warren Fox in the Channel 4 soap, when they appeared together in public at a soap awards ceremony in June.
