Ting Tings to play Isle of Wight
The Ting Tings received two Brit nominations on Wednesday |
The Ting Tings, Basement Jaxx and the Prodigy are among the first acts to be confirmed for the 2009 Isle of Wight festival, organisers have announced.
The bands will perform on the main stage on the first day of the annual event, which kicks off on 12 June.
Last year's festival saw the Kaiser Chiefs and the Sex Pistols play in front of more than 50,000 fans.
Organisers have promised this year's event will be "the most electric party the island has ever seen".
The line-ups for the other two days of the festival have yet to be announced.
Legendary
This year's event will be the eighth since the festival began in 2002.
The Who, the Rolling Stones, the Police and Coldplay are among the groups who have performed in recent years.
It follows in the footsteps of the original Isle of Wight festivals of the late 1960s, when acts such as Jimi Hendrix, the Doors and Bob Dylan gave now-legendary performances.
Australian drum and bass outfit Pendulum will also play on 12 June at Seaclose Park in Newport.
