Teenage fans of X-Factor band JLS have been injured following an incident at a music venue in Croydon, south London.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to Fairfield Halls at 1600 GMT after "reports of crushing at a free music event".

Five people suffered minor injuries, police said; the most serious injury was a suspected fractured wrist.

The hall management did not comment on the incident but confirmed the band were playing at the venue.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "We were called to reports of a possible crushing at a free music event.

"London Ambulance and police attended. Five people were injured during the incident, all believed to be minor injuries."
