Pop Idol creator Simon Fuller has signed a deal with ITV to develop six more TV projects.

As well as the Idol series, which turned into US hit American Idol, he has also had success with the US show So You Think You Can Dance.

ITV and Fuller have already started working on ideas, which they are looking to sell around the world.

Fuller, owner of 19 Entertainment, is best known for turning the Spice Girls into worldwide stars.

Fuller said: "The world's biggest TV show - American Idol - started life on ITV almost 10 years ago as Pop Idol and I'm delighted to be partnering with ITV again."

ITV Studios managing director Lee Bartlett, who worked with Fuller on American Idol, before, said he had "total admiration for the way he runs his very successful business".

Fuller added: "Both Lee and I share an ambition to produce British shows that will appeal to TV audiences around the world."
