Sixth arrest over online tickets

Sixth arrest over online tickets

Hundreds of people missed out on V Festival tickets

A sixth person has been arrested in London in connection with a company selling festival tickets which went into liquidation last August.

The 65-year-old man was arrested earlier this week in Surrey and has been released on bail, a spokesman for the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) said.

Xclusive Tickets sold thousands of tickets to gigs, festivals and the Beijing Olympics but did not deliver.

Thousands of music fans have been left out of pocket as a result.

Officials at the SFO and the Metropolitan Police began an inquiry last September into Xclusive Tickets Limited and its parent company, Xclusive Leisure and Hospitality Limited.

'Very useful'

Four men and a woman were arrested last November as a result of their investigations.

The latest arrest follows a direct appeal from the SFO for the public's help in uncovering the full extent of the suspected fraud.

SFO director Richard Alderman said the appeal had resulted in "some very useful information."

More than 2,500 people who purchased Reading, Leeds and V Festival tickets from the company were affected.

The parents of double gold medal-winning swimmer Rebecca Adlington were reportedly among those who had tried to obtain Olympic tickets through the site.
