Rod Stewart denies Faces reunion
Rod Stewart had agreed to reform according to Ian McLagan |
Rod Stewart has denied reports that his old band Faces are reuniting for a comeback tour later this year.
Stewart's spokesperson told US music industry weekly Billboard "there are no plans for a Faces tour this year".
In July, Faces keyboard player Ian McLagan told the BBC they were considering a reunion.
It has also been reported Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers would join the group. But the bassist told Billboard he "knows nothing" of a Faces tour.
Speaking to 6 Music, McLagan said: "We're hoping to get together later this year to play and then we may have some news, but I want it to happen, badly.
He admitted that Stewart had been t he only member uncertain about reforming.
"Rod hasn't wanted to do it for a long time. He didn't see the need in it but I think he really wants to now."
Earlier this month the Daily Mirror reported that Ronnie Wood had made his first album with Stewart in 30 years.
The Faces were formed in 1969 by members of the Small Faces after frontman Steve Marriott left to form Humble Pie.
The remaining trio - Ronnie Lane, McLagan and Kenney Jones - were joined by Wood and Stewart.
Wood has since become known for playing in the Rolling Stones and Stewart has had a successful solo career.
Lane also stayed in the music industry, but died in 1997 aged 51, two decades after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
