Twilight star 'doesn't like attention'

Hoards of screaming teenage girls braved the cold for the UK premiere of vampire love story Twilight, in London's Leicester Square.

Stars Robert Pattinson, 22, and Kristen Stewart, 18, walked down a black carpet blasted with dry ice.

Briton Pattinson said of his fans: "It's absolutely mad - they're here for the character, not for me."

The film, based on the series of novels by Stephanie Meyer, opens in UK cinemas on 19 December.
